A little red hen makes a very fine friend
she will cause you to smile and to cackle
you won't need a teevee or a radio
just follow your friend wherever she goes.
she will scratch in the ground
as she merrily fossicks around
there will be entertainment from daylight to dusk
as she searches for the biggest and juiciest bugs.
and when she is done and goes to her bed
in the morning there may be the gift of an egg.
